Satellite fire monitoring

Ghana Active-Fire Monitor

Inspect recent and historical satellite-observed active-fire detections and thermal anomalies across Ghana. Records are observations at satellite overpass time, not independently confirmed incidents.

Detection map

Local Ghana boundaries; no remote basemap. Use the toolbar or MapLibre keyboard controls to navigate.

Use Tab to reach map controls. When the map canvas has focus, MapLibre supports keyboard panning and zooming where available.

Map rendering uses locally hosted MapLibre GL JS. Ghana, agro-climatic-zone and optional district boundaries are supplied by the governed historical runtime. No remote basemap, glyph service, sprite service or map token is used.

Interpretation

Use satellite observations carefully

No governed monitor state is ready yet.

Active-fire detections represent centres of satellite pixels identified as containing fire or another thermal anomaly at overpass time. They are not fire perimeters, not burned-area estimates and not independently confirmed incidents. Thermal anomalies may include industrial heat and other non-fire sources. Cloud, smoke, sensor resolution, overpass timing and activity between overpasses can cause detections to be missed.

Do not use this monitor as the sole basis for protecting life or property. For an active emergency, consult the relevant public authorities.
