What the detections can support, what they cannot establish and how to use them responsibly.
Not an emergency-warning service
Do not use this monitor as the sole basis for protecting life or property. For an active emergency, consult the relevant public authorities.
What a point means
A point represents the centre of a satellite pixel identified as containing fire or another thermal anomaly at overpass time. It is not a fire perimeter, a burned-area estimate or an independently confirmed incident location.
Detection limits
Cloud, smoke, sensor resolution, overpass timing and the duration or intensity of heat affect detectability. Activity can occur between satellite overpasses. Missing detections do not prove that no fire occurred. Thermal anomalies may include agricultural burning, industrial heat and other non-fire heat sources.
Source and status limits
A valid empty state means expected source processing succeeded and no retained Ghana detections met the governed contract. A failed, missing or structurally unavailable source provides different evidence and must not be interpreted as zero. A stale release can still contain valid satellite observations, but its age reduces operational currency.
Geographic and display limits
Map polygons are display geography. District and agro-climatic-zone assignments are governed upstream and are not recalculated in the browser. Invalid coordinates are excluded from map insertion. Clustering and symbol placement are display operations and do not alter scientific counts.
